Congratulations to Washington Appleseed Senior Fellow Diana Stone, and her team of researchers, on the recent publication of the updated report, "Funding the Future: States' Approaches to Pre-K Finance, 2008 Update."
Pre-K Now, a national public education and advocacy organization that advances high-quality pre-k programs, provided the funding for the research and publication of this report.
The report examines the range of different financial approaches that states employ for funding pre-kindergarten programs, how effective they have been in identifying funds, how sustainable those funding sources are, and how investments can be increased to improve pre-k quality and expand program access. The analysis encourages policymakers to think creatively about ways to supplement and sustain current funding streams for pre-k programs in their own states.
In addition to the support of Pre-K Now, Diana received invaluable research assistance in the summer of 2007 from Washington Appleseed fellow Claire McHugh and Davis Wright Tremaine summer associates, Angela Kang and Alexis Wheeler.
The report is available, as a PDF document, on the Pre-K Now website. Please click here to view the report.
