Marvin Stern, appointed Executive Director of Washington Appleseed in September 2008, is a native of Seattle. After four years at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem doing graduate work in Holocaust Studies, Marvin returned to Seattle in 1982, where he served as Pacific Northwest Regional Director for the Anti-Defamation League for nearly 13 years. During that time he also served as a founding Board Member of the Northwest Coalition Against Malicious Harassment. In 1998 Marvin was the recipient of the Coalition's prestigious "Faces of Courage Award. "From 1998 to 2006 Marvin served as project manager of the Holocaust Survivors Assistance Office at the Office of the Insurance Commissioner, and in 2005 was recognized for his work on behalf of Washington's Holocaust survivors. He has also worked for the Democratic National Committee, and as an Employment and Training Counselor. In 2008 Marvin was appointed to the Seattle Human Rights Commission by Mayor Nichols and now serves as the Commission's Vice Chair. He has also served on the board and as Vice President of the Washington State Holocaust Education Resource Center.
Sue Donaldson, Founder

Attorney and former public official, Sue Donaldson is the Founder and former Executive Director of the Washington Appleseed Center for Law in the Public Interest. She is currently working as a volunteer at Washington Appleseed on projects regarding early learning, foster care and a tribute to former board chair Brad Diggs. Her work for Washington Appleseed allows her to combine her love of progressive public policy with the practice of law. Sue served on the Seattle City Council for 10 years, including one term as Council president. She also taught at the University of Washington Daniel J. Evans School of Public Affairs and as the Law School Harold S. Shefelman Distinguished Lecturer. She received an A.B. magna cum laude from Harvard-Radcliffe College and a J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law.
Diana Stone, Senior Fellow

Attorney Diana Stone is Senior Fellow at Washington Appleseed, working in the areas of education, children, and low-income self-sufficiency. She has served on the Scholastic National Customer Advisory Board, Madison Children's Museum Board, and Seattle's First Book Board. As an attorney, Ms. Stone was a litigator at Lawton & Cates, S.C. in Madison, Wisconsin, practicing in the area of employment discrimination and personal injury law. Previously, Ms. Stone served as a legal aid attorney in California and authored a handbook on Pay Equity Law as an attorney at Equal Rights Advocates in San Francisco. Ms. Stone earned her A.B. from Harvard University and J.D. from Harvard Law School.
